Mozyr, Braginsky, Kalinkovichsky and Oktyabrsky districts coped with the potato planting plan by 100%. In the Mozyr region, the last hectares were planted on Monday, May 9. The largest areas under it are in the KSUP “Slobodskoye named after Lenin”, where for several years in a row this responsible work has been entrusted to an experienced machine operator Alexander Karabun.
Workers of OAO “UvarovichiElit” in Buda-Koshelevsky district preparing potatoes for planting.
“He plants potatoes, spuds them, and is engaged in protective measures,” says director Yuri Bozhenkov. – Then in the fall he digs it up.
Yuri Nikolayevich noted that 105 hectares have been steadily allocated for this important crop for the country’s food security over the past five years. They mainly planted the Belarusian “scarb” and “vector”, which are famous for their good taste and good yield. This year we decided to try two more varieties – “breeze” and “manifesto”.
Other specialized farms of the Mozyr region also coped with the planting of potatoes: the Mozyr vegetable factory, the experimental base “Krinichnaya” and the KSUP “Kozenki-Agro”. In total, 306 hectares are allocated for it in the district.
- This is quite enough to meet the needs of the city, and to lay the stabilization fund, – says the head of the department of agriculture and food of the district executive committee Vasily Klimovich. “Educational and healthcare institutions have enough potatoes until the next harvest.
In the Gomel region, 545 hectares are allocated for potatoes, more than 50 percent of them are in the fields of the Vostok plant. Mechanic Vladimir Galai walks with a potato planter on a field of at least 10 hectares a day:
We work from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. They began to plant the bulb 10-12 days later than usual. But there is enough moisture in the soil, and this is also pleasing.
According to Vostok’s agronomist Alesya Migay, on Tuesday morning, 46 hectares of tubers of early varieties were planted: “uladara”, “pershaflower” and “lily”.
“They started planting potatoes when the ground at a depth of 10 centimeters warmed up to 8-9 degrees,” she adds. – In addition, it is very important to have time to put the tubers in moist soil. According to Alesya Ivanovna, the farm pays great attention to variety renewal. We have begun planting a super-elite “scarf”, which is especially in demand by consumers, and a “vector”.
Farm workers say that they do not remember such a late sowing potato. Usually, before the May holidays, the planting of the second bread was completed.
“Sowing seasons were different: both rainy and dry, and with different temperature regimes,” adds Alesya Migay. – Anything happened, but they coped. Let’s get it right this time.
Four households cultivate potatoes in the Gomel region. In addition to the “Vostok”, they learned to grow it in the KSUP “Teplichnoye”, “Brilevo” and “Uritskoye”.
And in the region, potatoes are cultivated in almost all districts, except for Khoiniki, Loevsky, Narovlyansky and Kormyansky. This year, almost 3,320 hectares have been allocated for the second bread. According to the operational report of the committee on agriculture and food of the regional executive committee, as of yesterday morning, 1,490 hectares of potatoes were planted, which is 45 percent of the plan. The base areas for its cultivation in the region are Rechitsa, Rogachevsky, Buda-Koshelev and Gomel. At the same time, vegetable sowing is in full swing in specialized agricultural enterprises. As of May 10, they have already been sown on 915.6 hectares – more than 55 percent of the plan.
