The market of the Moscow region is fully provided with potatoes. They have sown almost 14 thousand hectares of agricultural land. This was told by the chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma Committee on Agrarian Policy and the Consumer Market, Sergei Kerselyan.
“Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture stated that at present there is no need to import potatoes. As for the Moscow region, our region is one of the leaders in the production of vegetables, including potatoes. Despite the fact that this year the sowing campaign started against the backdrop of foreign sanctions, all work was carried out according to plan. Almost 14,000 hectares have been sown with potatoes this year. At the same time, the sown area has increased compared to 2021,” Sergey Kerselyan noted.
It is expected that the potato harvest this year will be almost 400,000 tons. Thus, there are no prerequisites for a shortage in the region.
