Two large enterprises and two peasant farms are engaged in growing potatoes in the Staroyuryevsky district.
This year, 859 hectares of potatoes will be planted on the fields of the municipality, including 450 hectares (52.4%) of them in Agroyuryevo LLC.
Ridges for planting tubers are cut annually in the fall. This technology allows the earth to dry out faster and start work earlier than usual. It is especially relevant for farmers because of the spring, which is generous with rains.
- First we plant an early variety of potato chips – Newton, then the turn of mid-ripening varieties will come. Four potato planters are involved in planting. If the weather is good, each of them covers 15 hectares in two shifts, this is about 60 hectares per day,
said Alexey Gusev, General Director of Agroyuryevo LLC.
On the first day, potatoes were planted on 40 hectares. Bad weather interrupted the work, but this is a feature of the crop industry – a direct dependence on weather conditions.
Tambov Farms LLC and two peasant farms also specialize in growing potatoes.
In general, as of April 28, tubers were planted on 60 hectares in the district, of which 20 hectares are in the peasant farm of Alexander Yumashev.
