Pepsico Canada and McCain Foods were pressed to make important recalls, because of Salmonella risk in potato chips, respectively golf balls materials in frozen hash brown products.
Pepsico’s Miss Vickie’s brand announced a voluntary recall of Jalapeño-flavored kettle cooked potato chips in Canada, because of the potential presence of Salmonella in the seasoning used in the product.
This action is the direct result of a supplier’s recent recall of a seasoning blend which includes jalapeño powder that could contain Salmonella.
Although no Salmonella was found in the finished seasoning supplied to Miss Vickie’s, the company has decided out of an abundance of caution to recall this one product. No illnesses related to this matter have been reported to date.
Only Jalapeño-flavored Miss Vickie’s potato chips are impacted by this recall that were distributed in three bag sizes nationally in Canada to grocery, drug and mass retailers, foodservice outlets and vending machines.
