Global Potato Summit 2026: India Strengthens Its Position in the Global Potato Industry

Global Potato Summit 2026, one of the key international events for the potato sector, will take place on 16–17 December 2026 at the Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Organised by Media Today Pvt. Ltd., the event is expected to attract more than 15,000 participants and visitors from over 15 countries, highlighting India’s rapidly expanding role in the global potato economy.

India’s Potato Market: Growth in Production and Processing

India is currently the second-largest potato producer in the world, making it one of the most influential players in global potato supply.

Rapid urbanisation, a growing middle class, and the expansion of quick-service restaurants are driving strong demand for processed potato products, including:

  • potato chips
  • French fries
  • potato flakes
  • frozen potato products
  • convenience foods

According to industry projections, the Indian frozen and processed potato market, valued at approximately USD 1.77 billion in 2023, could reach USD 7.23 billion by 2032, growing at an annual rate of nearly 17%. GPS Press Release 10.03.2026

This rapid growth is creating new opportunities for investment in processing technologies, cold storage infrastructure, and supply chain development.

Participants will include:

Gujarat: A Strategic Hub for Potato Processing

The choice of Gujarat as the host location reflects its growing importance in India’s potato processing industry.

The state offers a favourable ecosystem for potato value addition, supported by:

  • availability of processing-grade potato varieties
  • a well-developed cold storage network
  • strong logistics and transportation infrastructure
  • an active food processing sector driven by MSMEs

Gujarat’s proximity to major ports also provides efficient access to international markets, making it an ideal location for a global industry gathering. GPS Press Release 10.03.2026

Technical Visits to Farms and Processing Plants

In addition to the conference and exhibition, participants will have the opportunity to take part in curated field and factory visits.

These technical tours will allow delegates to explore:

  • modern potato cultivation systems
  • mechanisation in potato farming
  • post-harvest handling and quality control
  • advanced potato processing technologies

Such visits provide practical insights into how India’s potato industry is evolving to meet both domestic and international demand.

Strengthening International Collaboration in the Potato Sector

With growing global interest in food processing, agricultural technology, and supply chain efficiency, Global Potato Summit 2026 aims to become a strategic meeting point for international partnerships in the potato industry.

The summit will provide a platform for companies and organisations to:

  • showcase innovations
