ESI Eurosilo, a Dutch engineering and contracting company specialized in storage solutions for non-free flowing bulk solids and large quantities, started 2021 off on a high note as they announced an order for another 88.000 m3 potato starch silo from Karup Kartoffelmel Fabrik in Denmark.
A storage silo that size can store about 66.000 tons of potato starch. Such a storage capacity gives KMC a strategic advantage as the native starch can be stored for periods of over a year, making the production independent of seasonal crops.
This will be the second such silo ESI Eurosilo constructs at Karup Kartoffelmel Fabrik: In 2015 the first 88.000 m3 potato starch silo in Karup was the single biggest potato starch silo that went live into production.
Meanwhile ESI Eurosilo has built similar large potato starch silos at production sites in Brande and most recently in Toftlund, which also are part of the KMC Group.
Karup is the biggest production site of KMC and has opened a new production plant. Therefore extra storage capacity is needed urgently. The planning (and challenge!) is to get the new silo up and running by October this year.
