According to the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Moldova, gross agricultural production this year will amount to 33.9 billion lei. In comparable prices, this is 10 percent less than at the end of 2023. The previous forecast of the authorities, which was published just three months ago, promised growth of 2.4 percent.
According to the official version, one of the main reasons for the decline in indicators is the difficult weather conditions in the country. At the same time, the “The Power of Farmers” Association is confident that the real reason lies in the inept state policy in the agricultural sector. And the association predicts an even greater drop in production volumes – up to 30 percent.
