In Russia state control over potato products is being abolished

The Government of the Russian Federation has excluded four items from the list of goods for which state quality and safety control of grain products is carried out.
These products include fine and coarse potato flour, as well as flakes and powders obtained from tubers. Grain processing is not involved in their production, therefore, the technical regulations of the Customs Union “On grain safety” are not involved. In addition, these goods are not included in the list of quarantined goods and are not subject to phytosanitary control at the customs border of the EAEU countries.
Due to the innovations, there will no longer be inspections of such products for quality and safety at border points of import into Russia. But on the territory of the country itself, the relevant procedures will remain under the jurisdiction of Rospotrebnadzor.
According to experts, the measures introduced will simplify the work of importers selling potato processing products.
