The potato harvest in Russia has become a record in 30 years

According to preliminary data from Rosstat, potato production in the organized sector in 2023 amounted to 8.6 million tons. This is 18% higher than the result of the previous season and is the highest figure in the last 30 years.
The agrarian department clarified that the implementation of the federal project “Development of vegetable and potato growing”, which started in 2023, helped to increase the volume of potato harvest. 4.6 billion rubles were allocated from the budget for its implementation.
The federal project covered 76 regions of the country, of which special attention is paid to the Far East and the Kaliningrad region. An increasing coefficient is provided for these territories during the payments.
