Drone maker XAG has teamed up with Thailand-based FarmInno to introduce the country’s first fully autonomous agricultural drones. This was reported by the portal futurefarming.com.
Autonomous agricultural drones XAG will be equipped with artificial intelligence (AI). The UAV is planned to be used for spreading fertilizers, as well as for precise application and spraying of plant protection products. It is reported that this approach will help farmers in Thailand significantly save time and energy, as well as reduce the effects of labor shortages.
Thailand’s rural population is aging, with the average age of farmers in the country at 58.46, according to XAG and Chai Tai Company Limited, the parent company that owns the FarmInno Group. The introduction of autonomous agricultural drones will be in line with the Thailand 4.0 global development program, which aims to transform traditional agriculture into smart agriculture, and subsequently increase the level and ability of the country to compete in global world markets. Initially, FarmInno will release two standalone XAG agricultural drones, the P100 and V40.
“Fully autonomous agricultural drones will help farmers work even faster and more accurately, especially on large plantations and farmland, performing a wide range of crop spreading and spraying jobs.”
