In Russia, they do not know how to promote seeds of domestic selection, and some farmers buy only foreign analogues – this trend needs to be reversed. This was stated by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian Food Policy and Environmental Management Alexei Mayorov at a meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Legislators under the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
We often do not know how to promote the seeds of domestic selection in the same way as foreign competitors do. Plus, some agronomists are already sharpened for seeds of foreign selection. It is necessary to break this so that domestic analogues are also present in all our fields

The senator believes that seed production should be made investment attractive. This can be helped not only by state support, but also by private investors. According to him, the business itself will assess what management decisions need to be made so that the seeds are in demand.
“Next year, the law on seed production comes into force,” Mayorov recalled. – We need to adopt 33 by-laws. This must be done carefully, they must exactly correspond to the tasks set.”
Earlier, the senator suggested equating breeders in intellectual rights with composers and writers. And this applies not only to future discoveries in seed production, but also to those already made. In his opinion, this will encourage not only scientists to work, but also private business to invest in breeding.
