The Chinese will feed Primorye residents with potatoes
More than 2.2 thousand tons of potatoes from China have arrived in Primorye since the beginning of May, according to news agency DEITA.RU based on the materials of the Rosselkhoznadzor department for Primorsky Krai and the Sakhalin Region.

Potatoes from China stopped being imported to the region in July 2021. And this was not due to some Russian restrictions. The fact is that the import of goods was limited by the Chinese side, because in the places of production of the root crop “objects quarantined for Russia” were identified. Brown rot was on potatoes from the Middle Kingdom, in other words.

Since the beginning of May 2022, the restrictions have been lifted. During this time, 2,220 tons of young Chinese potatoes have already been imported to Primorsky Krai. Another 600 tons are currently being processed.

In addition, potatoes are imported to Primorye from Pakistan and Myanmar. Since the beginning of the year, 3,782 tons of potatoes have been imported to the region from these countries.

Primorye will also have its own potatoes. On the territory of the Far East, the region ranks first in the production of grain crops, potatoes and vegetables.
