Agrarians of the Tambov region have completed the planting of potatoes. The crop was planted on more than 3.4 thousand hectares of fields, which is 100 hectares more than last year’s result.
Most potato fields are in the Staroyuryevsky district – 890 hectares. More than 600 hectares of potato fields are occupied in the Michurinsky district. Slightly less than 600 hectares of black soil are allocated for cultivation in the Sosnovsky district. Agrarians of the Tambov region have planted 500 hectares of potatoes this year.
To increase crop yields, agricultural enterprises of the Tambov region use high-quality seeds and introduce modern technologies. They also annually expand the irrigated areas and effectively use fertilizers on the fields.
The main part of potato cultivation falls on personal subsidiary plots (PSP). Residents of the region also grow various vegetables, fruits, and berries on private household plots.
