In the last meeting of the Supervisory Board of potato starch manufacturer Avebe on November 1, Marijke Folkers-in ’t Hout (35) was appointed as Chair of this board.
Marijke Folkers succeeds Hans Hoekman (60), who is leaving after 25 years of board work with Avebe.
The new Chair of the Supervisory Board is the joint owner of an arable, poultry and pig farm and has wide-ranging experience of the world of business as well as board experience. In 2016, the Members’ Council appointed her as member of the Supervisory Board.
When Hans Hoekman took up post as Chair of the Supervisory Board in 2005, he was faced with a difficult task. Financially, Avebe was in turbulent times and the end of EU support was in sight.
The cooperative decided to shift its strategic focus to innovation and to extracting value from the potato. This is still the basis for the current strategy.
Avebe Chair of the Board Bert Jansen:
“As a tireless bridge builder between the cooperative, members and employees, Hans has been crucial to the successful development of Avebe.”
“His role in formulating the strategy and supervising its implementation moved Avebe to where we are today – an innovative, sustainable cooperative with a stable, rising performance price.”
Avebe expressed they are extremely grateful to Hans Hoekman for his input and wished Marijke Folkers success with her new task.
