The West Flemish family business Jolie recently purchased two belt unloaders from Van der Peet in Nieuwkoop. Jolie trades potatoes. The company therefore uses the belt trailers to transport potatoes to potato processing factories.
In consultation with Jolie, Van der Peet has made the belt unloaders especially suitable for this transport. For example, both belt trailers have a capacity of 51.5 cubic meters, which is good for a maximum of 35 tons of potatoes. The conveyor belt continues to the front of the belt trailer; as a result, little or no product remains in the trailer when unloading.
The conveyor belt is driven by a drum motor. Thanks to the frequency inverter, the delicate potatoes are not damaged during unloading. The frequency inverter has a factory position and a trailer position. At the factory setting, the motor of the conveyor belt can be controlled externally. When the frequency inverter is in unloader mode, the driver sets the running speed of the conveyor belt himself.
The belt trailers are also equipped with:
- a stainless steel wear plate on part of the floor. As a result, the floor will last a lifetime.
- an automatic roller tarpaulin with a separate battery set, so that it can be operated ‘stand alone’.
- three axles with disc brakes and large air bellows for stable handling.
- low-maintenance aluminum rims.
- support legs with large foot plates, so that the belt unloader is firmly anchored on the field.
- extra spotlights on the back of the belt unloader and at the outriggers. These guarantee good visibility when reversing.
- the Wabco OptiTurn setting for perfect driving behavior on roundabouts.
“The beautiful silver color in which the belt unloaders are sprayed finally accentuates the beauty of these trailers”, says Van der Peet.
The family business Jolie is located in Wijtschate, in the West Flemish Heuvelland. Many potatoes are grown in West Flanders.
