The Moscow region is increasing the production of its own vegetables, which will cover the needs of the region and ensure its food security in this area. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the region.
It is noted that the first in the region to collect potatoes and beets began the company “Dmitrovskoye vegetables”, which is the largest producer of vegetables near Moscow.
“The Moscow region plans to grow and harvest 400,000 tons of potatoes this year, which is 10% more than last year. The plan for beets is more than 82,000 tons, which is 21% more than last year,” the ministry said.
At present, the plan for potato crops in the region has been fulfilled by 96% (sown 13.7 thousand hectares), for beets – by 100% (1.91 thousand hectares).
