In a recent announcement, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) revealed the appointment of 32 members to Potatoes USA’s Board of Directors. The appointees, comprising 30 producer members and two importers, will serve three-year terms ending on Feb. 28, 2027.
The selection process for board members takes place annually, with candidates nominated by the industry and appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture following a comprehensive evaluation.
The Potatoes USA Board of Directors plays a pivotal role in steering the organization’s initiatives to bolster and advocate for the potato industry. Responsibilities of the Board include establishing strategic goals, directing resources towards marketing, research, and educational projects, and evaluating program performance to ensure effectiveness for all stakeholders in the potato sector.
Among the newly appointed board members are individuals from diverse regions, including California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Washington, and New Jersey. Additionally, several existing board members have been reappointed to continue their contributions to the industry’s growth and development.
