In modern Russia, a long-standing Soviet tradition is being revived – to provide everyone with agricultural land for rent for growing potatoes.
Once upon a time, this was not a curiosity. Collectives of plants and factories, universities and research institutes every spring took their employees to the collective farm and state farm fields, where they cut “hundreds” of potatoes. Then it all sank into oblivion. But, fortunately, not forever.
A few years ago, the Soviet experience was remembered in the Kostroma region, Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk. In the Sverdlovsk region, the “pioneers” were the people of Berezovka. In 2015, the head of the Berezovsky urban district turned to the peasant farm “Nadezhda” with a request to provide land to local residents who do not have their own plots for growing potatoes. The idea caught on, last year 350 residents of Berezovsky used the temporary garden. Today, in connection with the rise in prices for potatoes in stores, there are even more people who want to provide themselves with “second bread”.
Unfortunately, this example did not become widespread in our region for a long time, although there are opportunities to lease agricultural land everywhere. I see the reason in the shortcomings of the regional ministry of the agro-industrial complex and the heads of municipalities, who should be coordinators, a link between land owners and potential tenants.
Not everyone is ready to wait for “instructions from above.” In the Pyshminsky district, Ivan Ivanovich Menukhov, a farm manager who is reviving a forgotten village, is also ready this year to allocate land to the residents of his district center for planting potatoes. If desired, residents of neighboring Talitsa and Kamyshlov can also take advantage of this offer.
Those who wish to cut the land already plowed. For a newly-made gardener, this will not be free, but at an affordable price. You can take any number of “acres” – from two or more. In the farm, they will not only cut the land for you, but also put pegs, number the plots.
“During the season, tenants will have to come to us only three or four times to plant, spud and dig potatoes,” said I.I. Menukhov. – Ready to provide high-quality seeds, help in weeding and hilling.
I think the initiative of I.I. Menukhov will be supported by the administration of the Pyshminsky district, will provide assistance and the necessary assistance. His phone: 8-908-928-79-13.
I hope that in the coming years residents of all municipalities of our region will become temporary gardeners.
