The Polish Potato Federation is proud to have been chosen to host the 13th World Potato Congress (WPC) in Gdansk, Poland. This prestigious event, scheduled for late June 2026, will highlight Poland’s thriving potato industry and the fertile potato-growing regions surrounding the picturesque city of Gdansk on the Baltic Sea coast.
Host and venue
Known for its rich history and cultural significance, Gdańsk also boasts a vibrant agricultural sector. The city’s maritime influence, sandy soils and moderate temperatures create ideal conditions for growing potatoes. These conditions are ideal for producing potatoes known for their excellent taste, texture and versatility, which are highly prized in both local and international markets.
Polish Potato Federation
The initiator of the event is the Polish Potato Federation, a non-profit organization that protects the interests of the Polish potato industry. The Federation represents producers, processors, researchers and other stakeholders, working to improve the competitiveness, sustainability and sustainability of the potato sector both in Poland and around the world. “The Polish potato growing regions are a symbol of the resilience and adaptability of the Polish people, as well as their potato industry,” says WPC President Peter VanderZaag.
Event Highlights

Global cooperation
Originally scheduled for Nairobi, Kenya, the 2026 WPC was moved to Poland to allow more time to organize the event in Kenya. The WPC board and organizing committee in Kenya are discussing the possibility of holding the Congress after the 2028 event. This collaborative spirit underlines the global nature of the WPC and its commitment to promoting international collaboration and knowledge sharing in the potato industry.
