Starodub farmers harvest and sell early potatoes
LLC “Putsko Farm” is a major supplier of vegetable products in the Bryansk region. The farm has 2.5 thousand hectares of sown area in the Starodubsky district, of which 450 hectares are potatoes. Here, mainly such varieties of second bread are cultivated as: Red Scarlet, Colomba, Vineta, Gala, Manifesto and others.
This year, farmers started harvesting potatoes from August 1. Now, mostly early varieties are harvested, they are not stored, but immediately sold, so 5-6 hectares of potatoes are dug out per day, which are immediately sold to customers with a fresh crop.
Machine operator A. A child on a John Deere tractor worked in a field with an area of 100 hectares. If the weather is good, Alexander Rebenok harvests the second bread from 5-6 hectares per day (the average yield in mid-August on the farm was 40-45 c/ha). Root crops from the field are delivered to the sorting station, for one trip the car holds about 18 tons, that is, 3 bunkers of a potato harvester. After sorting, the potatoes are sold to consumers.
