In the heart of Córdoba, Argentina, the Conci agricultural group is spearheading a paradigm shift in irrigation systems with its cutting-edge approach to subsurface drip irrigation. Positioned at the forefront of this agricultural revolution, Conci’s innovative technique involves burying irrigation tapes 45 centimeters below the surface, a method that promises increased efficiency and sustainability.
For years, Conci has been synonymous with providing comprehensive and innovative solutions in subsurface drip irrigation, maintaining high-quality standards and guiding every stage of the implementation process in Córdoba.
This year, Conci took a significant step forward by partnering with potato farmer Héctor Giannobi to install an experimental trial in Piquillín, aiming to showcase the system’s benefits in terms of productivity and the reduction of phytosanitary issues.
Efficiency and Sustainability:
The subsurface drip irrigation system involves burying tapes at a depth of 45 centimeters, equipped with self-compensating emitters to ensure a reliable water pressure level. The agronomic design of the trial includes a tape spacing of 85 centimeters.
As part of the study, the water behavior during crop development was analyzed, resulting in the successful germination of potatoes in rainfed conditions. In terms of sustainability, this mechanism allows the utilization of all available well water for cultivation, optimizing efficiency through automated and remote monitoring activities.
The increased yields with low operational costs per hectare and adaptability to irregular plots enhance the overall productivity for farmers employing this approach. Moreover, it provides the opportunity for better land use and more effective weed control. Currently, it stands as one of the most sought-after options in the market due to its efficiency and technological proposition, with Conci achieving a record of 5,000 hectares sold in 2023.
Conci at AgroPapa 2023:
The culmination of Conci’s efforts will be showcased at AgroPapa 2023, taking place between November 24 and 25. Organized by the Federación Agraria Argentina, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of the Province, and the CEEA Foundation, this event will bring together potato producers nationwide at the Piquillín venue. It serves as the platform for presenting the results of the experimental subsurface drip irrigation trial in potato crops, along with financing options and future projects for 2024.
AgroPapa 2023 will feature field demonstrations, machinery presentations, an exhibition and sale of tractors, potato seedlings, and technical training sessions. The event is open and free to all interested participants.
Four Decades of Field Support:
With over 40 years in the sector, Conci has established itself as a symbol of attention, quality, and service. Boasting a team of more than 250 highly specialized collaborators and supported by renowned brands such as John Deere, PLA, Rivulis, Syngenta, Rizobacter, Nidera, and Michelin, Conci operates through five sales points across the province.
Conci’s groundbreaking subsurface drip irrigation system represents a leap forward in agricultural practices, offering not only increased productivity but also addressing key challenges faced by farmers. As we witness the success of their experimental trial, it becomes evident that the future of agriculture in Argentina may well be defined by the efficient and sustainable practices exemplified by Conci’s innovative approach.
