Eliane™ Bind 12 is a potato starch with unique properties that allows food manufacturers to create high quality and crispy coatings for fish and meat.
With Eliane™ Bind 12 a significant reduction of starch can be achieved in the recipes, while retaining a crispy coating. The unique benefits on taste, dosage and crispiness of Eliane™ Bind 12 give the manufacturer a golden chance to introduce new coating concepts in line with market requirements.
The product has been developed by Avebe, a cooperative of 2,500 growers of starch potato in the Netherlands and Germany. Each year, the starch potatoes of those members are processed into high-grade ingredients based on potato starch and potato protein; they add value to food products but also to industrial applications worldwide. Avebe works continuously on developing new opportunities and applications based on starch potatoes and is focused on sustainable continuity.
The company has 1,300 employees and production sites in the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden and sales offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The Head Office is in Veendam.
Avebe’s Market Manager Christer Andersson says “We have developed a unique new starch that gives our customers the opportunity to develop new clean label crispy products. The combination of excellent taste and less dosage will be in favor of both consumers and manufacturers. The clean label trend is going on for quite a while now but with this latest development we proof that cost savings can be combined with excellent performance.”
Eliane™ is a ‘waxy potato’ starch containing more than 95% amylopectin which allows preparation of foods with unique functionality, textures, expansion characteristics and cost saving opportunities. It is the world’s first amylopectin potato starch obtained through traditional breeding techniques.
