The war in Ukraine causes a shortage of sunflower oil. The potato processors have to switch headlong to palm oil.
The deficit also reached the government table. Minister of medium – sized enterprises, the self-employed, SMEs and Agriculture David Clarinval (MR) cited the deficit as an example of companies struggling with rising energy and raw material prices. “It may be laughable, but that means that factories where French fries are made will have to change their productions. And such changes can be problematic for companies,” Clarinval said.
The government will now ask the National Bank to investigate the impact of the war on the various sectors, in order to be able to take measures based on it, it said.
