Seminar in Gorodetsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region: Combating Potato Diseases Amidst Unstable Climate Conditions
An informative seminar organized by August Company was recently held in the Gorodetsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The seminar focused on the critical topics of identifying potato diseases and the timely treatment of fields, as well as developing potato protection systems in response to a cold spring and hot summer.
Alexander Hyutti, a renowned phytopathologist and potato disease specialist, provided an extensive overview of the phytosanitary state of potato fields in Russia. During the seminar, he discussed various groups of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, and nematodes, which adversely affect potato crops. Hyutti detailed the typical symptoms of various diseases, using the fields in the Nizhny Novgorod Region as a case study.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, such as frosts, this year has seen a 100% spread of Rhizoctonia and other diseases, leading to significant crop losses.
August Company provided participants with recommendations for the timely treatment of potato fields and plant protection systems designed to cope with challenging climatic conditions. The company’s experts emphasized the importance of regular field monitoring and the application of integrated plant protection approaches to minimize losses and increase potato yields.
The seminar gathered a wide range of participants, including farmers, agronomists, potato entrepreneurs, plant protection product managers, fertilizer and plant protection product manufacturers, scientists, researchers, and food industry specialists. They received valuable insights and practical recommendations to help them effectively combat potato diseases and improve their business productivity.
