Market Report Fiwap/PCA:
Early industrial potatoes: the season is coming to an end and this limits the overall supply. Demand is also small, as contracts remain the basis for factories.
Early Belgian potatoes: prices of between 2.50 and 3.00 €/q, stable market.
Some first (small) volumes (mature and hardened batches) for export to Africa. Due to a lack of transactions, there are no quotations for the later varieties.

The Netherlands
There is no additional activity from factories, but prices remain unchanged. The increasingly dry soils make harvesting more difficult, except of course those of the irrigated plots. Prices remain ‘solid’ and are around 2.50 and €3.00/q. The factories operate at about 80-90% of their capacity. Some factories are reducing excess tonnes, while others are limited to contracted volumes. The early potatoes are still available until this or next week. The activities on the fresh markets are proceeding as usual, with prices of between 10.00 and 17.00 €/q.
Exports are looking for balanced prices of between 10.00 and 13.00 €/q (sorted by size, in big bags and therefore destined for export), just like last week, with some demand from Africa.
Germany
Fresh market (early and semi-early potatoes): prices are falling again, both for solid-cooking potatoes with prices of around €12.25/q (€14.83/q last week) and for crumbly/corny potatoes with prices of around €11.08/q (13.50 € /q last week). Prices are falling, supply is out of demand, especially as early potatoes weigh heavily on the market and the virtually non-existent export market. Of course, the very small number of consumption during the 1 to 2 weeks in which it was very hot did not help.
In the Rhineland, prices have stopped falling and are stabilising. They are between 10 and 12.00 €/q. Processing market (early and semi-early potatoes): prices of between 2.00 and 3.00 €/q (between 2.00 and 3.00 €/q last week).
Organic potatoes: producer prices of between 55.00 and 58.00 €/q (all varieties and all markets combined).

Great Britain
Although there has been a slight improvement in demand, trade on the wholesale markets is still somewhat sluggish. Some market observers think that demand from restaurants in large cities is only 50% of pre-crisis levels and 70% of the level in less populated areas.
Factories and peelers showed little interest in the volumes of rare species last week. Prices are between 4.50 and 5.50 €/q for the batches of lower quality, up to around 7.70 – 8.80 €/q for the good batches of Sagitta or Maris Piper, and even 15.50 €/q for the top quality size-sorted Agria.
In the fields, the harvests went smoothly last week, except for those in the west and northwest where the heavy rains caused the work to be interrupted a number of times. In the east and southeast irrigation is applied even before the harvest. Some parties have been refused due to excessive damage from moles and snails. In the potato chips sector, dry matter content has decreased and yields are only average.
