Four districts of the Lipetsk region have started harvesting potatoes. In the organized sector, and these are large agricultural enterprises, peasant (farmer) households and personal subsidiary plots, potatoes are grown in 16 districts.
The harvesting of the second bread was started in the Gryazinsky, Dolgorukovsky, Usmansky and Khlevensky districts. The first 4.4 thousand tons were received. In total, farmers will have to harvest potatoes from 5.5 thousand hectares. More than 20 varieties of potatoes are grown in the Lipetsk region. These are both table potatoes and potatoes, which are used to make fries and chips. The most popular varieties of table potatoes, which have very good taste characteristics and are suitable for cooking various dishes, are Queen Anne, Gala, Memphis, Red Scarlet, Red Sonya, Colombo and Lilly. The last two varieties are especially tasty. For processing into chips, the Pirol variety is grown, for fries – Lyudmila, Innovator and Challenger. Recall that the largest potato processing and canning plant in Russia operates in the region. At the end of last year, the Lipetsk region ranked second in the country in terms of processed and canned potatoes.
On an industrial scale, areas for second bread are provided for in more than ten farms in seven districts. All large companies involved in the production of potatoes in the Lipetsk region, the fields are irrigated. Many farms have modern potato storage facilities, and a number of vegetable storage projects are being implemented in the region.
“The creation of such a vertically integrated production – from potato cultivation to its processing, packaging, storage and transportation of finished products – became possible thanks to the implementation of the import substitution strategy in Russia and the attractive investment climate in the region,” said Deputy Governor of the Lipetsk Region Igor Kremnev. “Projects like this contribute to the use of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and the creation of highly productive jobs.”
