At the end of the week, the Moldovan government approved a bill providing for the abolition of the excise tax on the import of motor cultivators, agricultural and forestry tractors.
As expected in the Cabinet, the measure will serve to increase competitiveness, increase income and expand opportunities for the export of Moldovan agri-food products.
“Currently, motor cultivators imported to Moldova with a service life of up to 12 years are exempt from excise duty. However, excise tax is levied on machines with a service life of 13-15 years in the amount of 10 lei per cubic meter of engine capacity. For a machine with a service life of 16 to 18 years – 20 lei per cubic meter, 19 years – 60 lei per cubic meter,” the government said in a statement.
The Cabinet clarifies that wheeled tractors used in agriculture and forestry, with a service life of up to 20 years, are currently not subject to excise taxes.
Cars with a service life of 21 to 23 years are subject to an excise tax of 10 lei / cubic meter, from 24 to 26 years old – 20 lei / cubic meter, and from 27 years old – 60 lei / cubic meter.
