Handelshuis HZPC has decided to stop developing and supplying digital agricultural products and services through its subsidiary Solentum. Developments are not going fast enough.
The Solentum business activities will be discontinued as of May 1, 2021. According to commercial director Herman Verveld, HZPC sees without any doubt the increasing importance of digital data in the agricultural industry. “On the other hand, we also observe that this digitization development in the potato business chain is developing more slowly than expected. Several reasons underlie this. “
HZPC wants to continue with the digitization of its core activities at full speed. Verveld: “In order to speed up this process, we want to bring focus. Solentum’s activities do not fit in between these at the moment. A difficult but well-considered decision. ”
Product assessment in storage and on land
All Solentum relations have now been informed of this decision. Solentum BV was founded in 2015 as a 100 percent subsidiary of HZPC, with the aim of developing and supplying smart agricultural products and services. Since 2015, Solentum has introduced products such as the SolEye. This is a smart instrument for accurately and objectively assessing the color of chips.
Another product is the SolAntenna Warehouse; a digital instrument that collects real-time data during potato storage. The SolGrader is a real-time digital field analysis tool of trial harvests, which is supported with a SolPortal as a customer-friendly data dashboard.
