More than 60 tons of young potatoes are planned to be harvested by ROTA-AGRO farmers. All preparatory work has been carried out, equipment and people have taken to the fields, said agronomist Alexander Kambur. “The day before, we mowed the tops to make it more convenient to harvest. The peculiarity of harvesting early potatoes is that it is semi-mechanical – a potato digger works, but the tubers are harvested by hand. This is laborious, but young potatoes require careful harvesting, the peel is still too thin, it is easy to damage and spoil the presentation,” Cambour said. The entire crop of young potatoes will be sold immediately. The early Bellarosa variety is in high demand for its taste and appearance ? tubers of pink color, the correct form, with small eyes. Later varieties – Gala and Aluet – will go to storage, they will be harvested at the end of August. The plans are to harvest 950 tons of potatoes. The harvest will be stored in a vegetable store, where it will be sorted into fractions, packed and sold throughout the year.
