Moscow hosted the IV All-Russian Open Conference “Soil and Land Resources: Status, Evaluation, Use”, timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Federal Research Center “V.V. Dokuchaev”. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Svetlana Khodneva, who read to the participants and guests of the conference a greeting from the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia Dmitry Patrushev.
In his welcoming address, the Minister noted that the preservation and reproduction of soil fertility is one of the most important conditions for the sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex, efficient and stable production of agricultural products. In recent years, the country has achieved a lot in this direction: today, on the basis of scientific knowledge, innovative agricultural practices are being successfully introduced in the Russian agro-industrial complex, land reclamation measures are being taken, large-scale work is underway to increase crop yields and improve the environment.
According to Dmitry Patrushev, the Soil Institute named after V.V. Dokuchaev. It was the formation of a specialized institution in 1927 that completed the formation of soil science as a fundamental academic science.
Over the past years, the institute has formed a comprehensive scientific base and carried out large-scale systematic scientific work, which resulted in a significant number of methodological developments that remain relevant and are actively used in the performance of applied functions by organizations of the agro-industrial complex. In particular, with the participation of the Soil Institute, Guidelines were developed for conducting comprehensive monitoring of soil fertility on agricultural lands, which determined the basis for the work of agrochemical services subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
Svetlana Khodneva, in her speech, noted the significant practical contribution that the federal research center makes to the development of the agro-industrial complex, providing industry participants with applied knowledge and research. The Deputy Minister also took part in the awarding of honored workers of the Institute.
