Last year, the gross production of potatoes in farms of all categories in the Bryansk region amounted to 1 million 120 thousand tons, the press service of the regional government reported.
The increase in the volume of “second bread” led to a gradual decrease in the dependence of the Russian domestic market on imports and supported the growth of export deliveries.
In large specialized farms, high-intensity varietal technologies have been introduced using the most modern set of machines for tilling the soil, caring for plantings and harvesting tubers without damaging them.
It is reported that the best fields in the Bryansk region give a potato yield of 700 centners per hectare. For example, the yield in the Netherlands is 450 centners per hectare, in Belarus – 260 centners per hectare.
The region has mastered the production of potato chips varieties, which are readily purchased abroad.
As we reported earlier, in the Bryansk region, they plan to sow 29,000 hectares of land with potatoes.
