Peng Kongyu, an operator at the farm, notes the benefits of using advanced spraying machines. “These machines cover nearly 100 acres in just an hour, providing uniform application and reducing costs. This method also integrates green pest control techniques, improving pest management effectiveness and pesticide utilization.”
Smart irrigation systems have replaced manual operations, enabling precise control over water and fertilizer application. Technician Zhuang Jianli demonstrates how a smartphone app controls the irrigation system, ensuring the potatoes receive adequate water. This technology not only saves labor but also enhances precision in irrigation and fertilization, promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Custom Nutrition for Enhanced Yields
Tiaoshan Farm’s nutrient management system uses smart fertigation equipment to deliver precise fertilizer blends tailored to the potatoes’ growth stages. The automated blending station combines essential nutrients based on specific recipes, ensuring the plants receive optimal nourishment.
Technician Liu Jing explains, “Our system sets parameters based on the potatoes’ needs at different growth stages, providing timely and precise fertilization. This automation saves time and labor while enhancing crop yield and quality.”
The blending station, capable of producing 10,000 tons of fertilizer annually, supports over 20,000 acres of farmland. Its advanced technology ensures consistent quality, with nutrient variation controlled within 0.1%, aligning with national standards for fertilizer production and quality traceability.
Breeding and Seed Potato Production
Quality seeds are crucial for high yields and superior crop quality. Tiaoshan Farm’s seed potato breeding facility, spanning 124 acres, includes semi-automated greenhouses and net houses designed for optimal growth conditions. The facility follows a rigorous production process, from tissue culture to virus testing, ensuring the production of high-quality seed potatoes.
Cao Zhenjun, a technician, highlights the farm’s breeding process, which ensures robust and healthy seed potatoes. The farm cultivates popular varieties like Atlantic, Burbank, Dongnong 310, and Longshu No. 3, known for their high yield and processing quality. These varieties are highly sought after in domestic and international markets.
