The head of the Cabinet believes that the role of representatives of the Council for Economic Policy is to help the government on a number of issues.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recommended that the Cabinet of Ministers and government bodies review ongoing programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
This was stated by the head of the Cabinet on Sunday at a meeting of the Council for Economic Policy.
“Our task is to create an independent expert group without being tied to the government or any other political force that will accompany the cabinet’s economic reform agenda,” Pashinyan said.
According to him, the group should become a bridge between the government’s economic reforms and the international expert community. The prime minister is confident that representatives of the Council for Economic Policy will help the Cabinet find experts who can give the best advice on a number of issues.
He noted that an agreement had been reached that the Center for Economic Perspectives, chaired by Artur Javadyan, would take on an organizational role.
The prime minister stressed that over the past 20 years, the authorities have spent a huge resource and made great efforts, but in fact nothing has been done in connection with digitization. The head of the Cabinet noted that the task was set to find out why so many resources were spent, but Armenia is actually in the preparatory stage in the field of digitalization.
It is emphasized that on the second day of the session, issues were discussed on the sustainable development of the agro-food system, increasing the competitiveness of agriculture through land reforms, tax rates applied to food products, and a number of others.
