New vegetable stores in the Moscow region will increase the volume of vegetable storage by 150,000 tons, thanks to which additional reserves will be created, said Andrey Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region.
“The sowing campaign is going well, we will have completed 10% more acreage by last year. God forbid, the weather will be good until all the harvest, we see, accompanies. Therefore, large federal programs are being implemented here (ed.), we are participating in them, ”Vorobyev said on Sputnik radio.
He noted that in spring the borscht set, which includes carrots, beets, cabbage and potatoes, as a rule, rises in price in spring.
“The problem is that we can grow more, but, unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to store, so there is a program to build modern vegetable stores. We are participating in it. This will allow us to increase the volume of storage by 150 thousand tons. This is a lot: for Moscow and for the Moscow region it is enough to have additional reserves in these sensitive areas,” the governor emphasized.
Earlier, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food reported that two new warehouse complexes for storing vegetables would be built on the basis of a state farm in Lakes near Moscow.
