The Dutch processing industry also used a lot of french fries in February. More than 334,000 tons were harvested in the same month, slightly more than last year, according to the Association of the Potato Processing Industry (Vavi).
In February, French fry producers processed 334,300 tons of potatoes into 185,000 tons of finished product. This means that the processing volume is about 5,000 tons more than in January and 12,000 tons more than in February 2022. Of the processed french fries in February, 31.3 percent came from imports, about 5 percent less than last year.

According to Vavi, in January of this year, more than 21 percent came from imports. Dutch potato processors used just under 4 million tons of potatoes last year. The French fries industry is already a significant player, with above-average performance in January and February.
