In February, a new brand of chips made its debut with an original marketing strategy: the chips are already crushed in their bags.
The new brand, named FailChips comes in three flavors — jalapeño, salt and vinegar, and barbecue. FailChips are like all other chips, except for one thing: the bags are filled with the tiny bits of crushed-up chips you typically find at the bottom, after you eat the intact ones.
“Wait, what are these things? So, you know super season crumbly bits at the bottom of the bag? We’ve made them the whole deal. Which means the best part of the bag is now the whole bag,” is the message posted on the producer’s website.
The manufacturer continues on the production process: “we take regular, delicious potato chips, and then we crush them and put them in a bag all by themselves. It’s a pretty simple process, really. And also weirdly satisfying”.
