A large pile of potatoes was dumped in front of the head office of the umbrella organization Central Bureau for Food (CBL) on Friday morning. The action seems to come from dissatisfied farmers, while on Thursday there were still ‘constructive’ consultations between supermarkets and farmers’ interest groups.
sign has been placed near the mountain of potatoes with the slogan:
‘Supermarkets are running at full speed over the back of the farmers’.
It is still a mystery who deposited the potatoes, says a spokeswoman for the CBL. The protest campaign did not cause much inconvenience, but the trade association finds it ‘extremely annoying after such a good conversation’ that took place on Thursday. CBL does not yet know whether a declaration will be made.
