The Canadian government approves the use of the fungicide Minuet on potatoes. Crops are shielded by Minuet from diseases including rhizoctonia root rot, black scurf, and stem canker.
FRAC Group BM02 Bacillus subtilis strain QST 713 is the biological species of the product, and it has been authorized for usage in Canada since 2007.
In field tests undertaken by Bayer across Canada, it was discovered that fields treated with its particular Bacillus strain outperformed those treated with the grower-standard method.
Minuet’s registration was complemented by the expanded registration of two more Bayer products. On potatoes in Western and Eastern Canada, respectively, Proline GOLD and Propulse fungicides can be applied. In addition to suppressing black dot, prothioconazole (Group 3) and fluopyram (Group 7) actives will allow potato growers to prevent early blight, brown leaf spot, and white mold.
