The support payment amount for farmers listed in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) in regions where planting is restricted due to “potato wart” infestation has been raised to 125 Turkish lira for every 0.1ha.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry prepared a Communiqué on the Support to be Applied in the Areas with Potato Warts and the Security Zone, which was published in the Official Gazette and went into effect.
The legislation with the same name that was published in the Official Gazette on November 14, 2019, was repealed with the Communiqué. Therefore, farmers who have registered their product and parcel information for the production season in the ÇKS will be eligible for the subsidy, according to Railly News.
A support payment of 2022 lira per 0.1ha will be given to the farmers included in the ÇKS for the alternative applications in the areas where potato warts are visible and in the areas in the security zone established for potato wart, whether these areas are left fallow or alternative crops are grown there as a quarantine measure. The sum was calculated at 110 lire per 0.1ha in the dismantled rule.
The Ministry will decide on the assistance payment schedule based on the application of sowing, planting, and fallow commencing this year, and payments will be made to the same region every three years. This year will see the payout, which will last for three years.
Before November 21, 2022, farmers who wish to receive the aforementioned assistance must apply to the provincial or district directorates where they have registered. Applications must be submitted within the given time frame.
The Ministry will have the authority to take action to guarantee that support payments are supervised. The services of other public institutions and organizations, cooperatives, agricultural chambers of commerce, and unions will be used as needed in the studies that will be conducted for this purpose.
The relevant units will be in charge of overseeing both the documents that have been prepared for them and those that have been submitted to them. If this responsibility is not met and unjust payments result, necessary administrative measures will be taken against those responsible. If fake or unrealistic documents are issued or used, civil and criminal proceedings will also be started against those responsible. The appropriate funding for the support payments will be allocated from the budget’s associated expenditure item.
