According to the head of the republic, Vladimir Uiba, this result was achieved, in particular, thanks to state support measures.
In 2022, agricultural enterprises of the Republic of Komi will provide the region with 100% potatoes grown in the region for the first time. This was achieved by doubling the area under this crop, Vladimir Uyba, head of the Komi Republic, told reporters on Thursday.
“We have taken serious support measures, allocated more than 280 million rubles to support our agricultural enterprises, introduced new subsidies that were not there a year ago. <..> Our farmers have doubled the area for sowing potatoes, and the harvest will be higher, which gives us this year for the first time to provide ourselves with 100% potatoes, root crops. We already see a response from agro-industrialists to support measures,” Uyba said.
He also explained that the measures taken to support farmers gave them the opportunity to develop their farms. “For example, we buy 100% and compensate for the costs of potatoes, seeds. We compensate 70% for those agricultural producers who build their feed workshops. And this year we have unprecedentedly increased, by almost 40%, the volume of the entire budget for the development of agriculture,” – added the head of the republic.
