Earlier in Belarus, against the backdrop of sanctions, there were problems with packaging, in connection with this, the range of dairy products on the shelves of domestic stores was also reduced.
Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said that we need to think about creating our own packaging production.
The head of government drew attention to the fact that all the noise around tetrapacks was due to the uncertainty whether they plan to continue to produce products in them in the Russian Federation.
“In fact, we need to think about our own production of packaging. Maybe it will be called not a tetrapack, but a quadrupak or something else,” Golovchenko said on the air of Belarus 1.
Lukashenka’s order
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko earlier instructed to establish the production of food packaging in the country by the end of this year. He voiced this instruction while visiting the Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1.
“To make this packaging material produced in Belarus. To have the material by the end of the year,” the president said.
He also stressed that the country’s chemical industry is very developed, and “we cannot produce this oilcloth.”
The fact is that packaging for some types of products, for example, for milk, was purchased by domestic enterprises from foreign manufacturers. Due to sanctions and certain restrictions, some difficulties arose with this, which affected both the assortment and the volumes of products supplied to the domestic market.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo will be responsible for the production of packaging, and Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats will control it.
In addition, the president instructed to organize the production of the necessary spare parts for imported equipment.
