In Komi, a hot summer can negatively affect the potato harvest. This forecast was given by the head of the department of crop production and melioration of the Ministry of Agriculture and the consumer market of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olga Lysenkova.
“Dry summers, lack of rain during the period when the potato blooms and the number of tubers is formed, can affect the yield. This year, the yield is predicted to be below average precisely because of the low moisture content of the soil. There is not enough moisture and cabbage, it is also predicted to have a low yield,” – said Olga Lysenkova.
If there is a rainy August in the republic, then there is a chance that the potatoes, if not pleased with the number of tubers, will be quite large. Gardeners on personal household plots will be able to correct the situation by watering.
There is also good news. This year, the Colorado potato beetle and late blight have not been noted on potatoes.
