World Potato Congress Inc (WPC), based on Prince Edward Island in Canada, announced the past week that it has appointed two new Directors to its Board, and added five new International Advisors.
Dr. André Devaux from Belgium has been appointed as one of the new Directors. Prior to being appointed as a WPC Director, Dr. Devaux was named as an International Advisor with WPC Inc. in 2018. He is currently leading WPC Inc’s ‘International Potato Day’ project. He is Scientist Emeritus, International Potato Center (CIP).
Potato journalist Jaap Delleman from the Netherlands also joined WPC Inc as a new Director. Mr. Delleman is known for his work as publisher of various trade books and editor-in-chief of the magazines Aardappelwereld and PotatoWorld.
The founder and CEO of KIWA in Ecuador, Martin Acosta, is one of the International Advisors of WPC Inc. He is joined by Julio Kalazich (Chile), Ghislain Pelletier (Canada), Blair Richardson (USA), and Santosh Kumar Tiwari (India).
The 11th World Potato Congress was held in Dublin, Ireland this year. The next Congress will take place in Adelaide, Australia on June 23 – 26, 2024.
