Pakistan to receive Chinese farming technology
The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Islamic University (Pakistan) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at sharing efficient farming technologies in arid and semi-arid regions.
As part of the cooperation, the Pakistani side will receive advanced technologies of drip irrigation under mulch, cultivation under plastic film, breeding and control of virus-free seed potatoes, cold chain (logistics of perishable products at low temperatures) of fruits and vegetables, germplasm (germplasm), etc. Among other things, it will receive technologies for creating new varieties of wheat, potatoes, rapeseed and other crops adapted for growing in cold or arid climates.
The parties also agreed to establish a China-Pakistan research center, which will develop new technologies for breeding and cultivation, plant protection and agricultural mechanization.
“Cooperation between our organizations will benefit the people of both countries. We believe that this cooperation will further strengthen Pakistani-Chinese friendship and exchanges between the two nations, and promote sustainable development for our future generations,” concluded Professor Athar Mahboob, Rector of the Islamic University.
