In order to preserve the local product, farmers have to build vegetable stores.
This year, farmers have increased the area under potato by 1,000 hectares.
Ordinary residents grow 75% of the potatoes produced in the Omsk region. Nikolai Drofa, Minister of Agriculture of the Omsk Region, spoke about this the day before.
- Of the total production of potatoes – 75% – is the production in private farms. Therefore, today the task is to increase production in organized forms, – the head of the department explained.
That is, the regional government is betting on increasing the acreage and harvest of large farmers. This is necessary so that as much of its own production as possible remains in the region. For this, money is allocated from the budgets of all levels to compensate for the construction of vegetable stores.
- Today we are working to ensure that all produced potatoes can be stored for a longer period. And the off-season period, as usual, is June, July-August, we try to have Omsk potatoes on the shelves. For this, new vegetable stores are being built. A number of peasant farms received compensation this year. Such work will continue, – Nikolai Valentinovich assured.
It should be noted that the issue of potatoes in the Omsk region is acute. Last autumn, a huge increase in the cost of this product was recorded. The price increase was due to the large-scale export of local potatoes to other regions of the country, where they are highly valued. Basically, Siberian products go to the Moscow region and the southern regions of the country. Omsk, in turn, receives a kind of “alaverdi” from Krasnodar.
