About 40 hectares of land will be sown this season with potatoes in Yamal. It is planned to complete the planting of vegetable crops before the third decade of June. The total harvest should be at least 400 tons.
Four enterprises are planting “second bread”: Yamal Potato LLC in Salekhard, the Pripolyarnaya and Tolkinskaya agricultural firms in the Krasnoselkupsky district, the Muzhevskoye SME in Shuryshkarsky and the peasant farm Borodin A.V. in the Nadymsky district.
The Yamal Potato enterprise has already begun sowing on 16 hectares. From the south of the Tyumen region, about 30 tons of seeds of early ripening varieties were brought on a barge.
According to Damir Sharipov, head of the farm, the land was plowed up in autumn, and when the snow melted, they cultivated it and applied mineral fertilizers.
“The first shoots should appear in about two weeks,” the farmer said. “In two months it will be possible to harvest.”
In the district capital, potatoes are also planted by an individual entrepreneur Alexander Dangaev. The plot is small – only 1.5 hectares. But the farmer hopes to get about 20 tons of crop from it.
“We have been growing potatoes for the parishioners of the Salekhard diocese for several years now. The resulting crop is sent to the dining room at the Church of Peter and Paul, where low-income citizens and those in a difficult life situation can eat,” the entrepreneur said.
At the same time, the Department of Agro-Industrial Complex provides significant state support to potato producers. In particular, they are helped to purchase equipment and compensate for part of the production costs.
We add that about 25 tons of other vegetables were grown in Yamal last year – cabbage, carrots, beets, cucumbers and tomatoes.
