Join CIP’s Initiative to Revolutionize Potato and Sweetpotato Breeding

Are you passionate about potato 🥔 and sweetpotato 🍠 breeding? Here’s an incredible opportunity for you to contribute to a groundbreaking initiative that could shape the future of crop breeding 🌱.

The International Potato Center (CIP), in collaboration with the CGIAR Initiative on Market Intelligence, is on a mission to gather insights that will transform how we understand and respond to market demands. And we need your expertise to make it happen!

Why Market Intelligence Matters

In recent years, there has been a significant shift towards recognizing the importance of a demand-led approach in maximizing the impact of investments in crop breeding. To effectively design new varieties, we require reliable, comparable, and timely market intelligence. This is where CIP comes in.

CIP’s Role in the CGIAR Initiative

CIP is proud to be part of the CGIAR Initiative on Market Intelligence, a collaborative effort that brings together social scientists, crop breeding teams, and other experts. Together, we aim to revolutionize how we approach crop breeding by better understanding and responding to market demands.

Market Segmentation: A Key Tool

One crucial tool in this initiative is market segmentation. By identifying and characterizing market segments, we can make evidence-based decisions and prioritize investments effectively. CIP, in consultation with national partners, has already identified 59 market segments for potato and 32 for sweetpotato in the Global South. Now, we need your help to further characterize these segments and uncover impact opportunities.

How You Can Get Involved

CIP’s Market Intelligence team has developed an e-survey specifically designed to gather insights from potato and sweetpotato experts like you. Whether you’re a breeder, seed system specialist, market analyst, agronomist, or practitioner with in-depth knowledge of the sector, your input is invaluable.

The survey is user-friendly and should only take between 10 to 40 minutes, depending on your expertise and the number of countries you can provide information on. Plus, it’s available in English, French, and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for experts worldwide.

Your Contribution Matters

To ensure the success of this initiative, we need a high number of respondents to guarantee the reliability of our estimates. By participating in the survey, you’re not just sharing your expertise – you’re helping to shape the future of agriculture.

Win Big as a Token of Our Appreciation

As a token of our appreciation for your time and effort, we’re offering participants the chance to win big. Ten lucky respondents from each survey will be randomly selected to receive a $100 gift card – our way of saying thank you for helping us shape the future of food security and agricultural innovation.

Join Us in This Exciting Journey

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be a part of something truly transformative. Your expertise could be the missing piece in the potato and sweetpotato breeding puzzle. Together, we can unlock a world of possibilities for the future of food security and agricultural innovation.

Are You Ready to Make a Difference?

Take the first step towards driving food security and agricultural innovation by participating in CIP’s e-survey today. Together, let’s make a difference in the world of potato and sweetpotato breeding!
