Potato Market Weekly Report (September 9, 2024): Market Weakness Intensifies, Clear Divergence Between Upstream and Downstream

In early September, the potato market has been experiencing increased weakness due to the rapid influx of new potatoes. The divergence between upstream and downstream sectors remains pronounced. Prices in production areas have remained stable, with an average price of approximately 1.25 yuan per kilogram as of last Sunday, unchanged from the previous week. Specific regional prices include 1.20 yuan per kilogram in Weichang, Hebei; 1.40 yuan per kilogram in Tengzhou, Shandong; 1.14 yuan per kilogram in Wuchuan, Inner Mongolia; and 1.30 yuan per kilogram in Dingxi, Gansu.

In wholesale markets, price fluctuations have been significant, with an overall downward trend becoming more evident. According to data from the National Agricultural Products Business Information Public Service Platform, the average wholesale market price was 2.02 yuan per kilogram as of September 8, representing a 4.7% decrease from the previous week and a 30% drop year-on-year.
