Potato Harvest Success in Tolokan Village: A Model of Highland Agriculture and Community Resilience

The agricultural potential of Dusun Dangklik in Tolokan Village has once again been showcased through a successful potato harvest conducted by the Sidomakmur Farmers Group. Under the leadership of Village Head Sugiyono, this harvest underscores the significant agricultural opportunities in the highland regions near Mount Telomoyo and Mount Merbabu.

Potatoes are a key commodity in Tolokan Village, thriving due to the fertile volcanic soil and cool mountain climate. The Sidomakmur Farmers Group, consisting of local farmers, began planting potatoes earlier this year and has now achieved a bountiful harvest.

“Alhamdulillah, this harvest has been abundant, with large and healthy potatoes. This is the result of our hard work and favorable natural conditions,” said Sugiyono during the harvest.

The harvest also involved students from UNNES GIAT 12’s community service program (KKN), fostering knowledge exchange between young academics and local farmers. “This is a valuable experience. We not only learned farming techniques but also witnessed the strong spirit of communal cooperation,” shared one student.

Beyond agricultural output, this harvest reflects the community’s commitment to food security and rural economic growth. The Sidomakmur Farmers Group aims to adopt more sustainable farming practices and engage younger generations in agriculture.

Tolokan Village, particularly Dusun Dangklik, proves that highland agriculture remains a viable and promising sector. With proper cultivation techniques and community-driven efforts, potato farming can enhance local resilience and economic stability.
