Enhancing Potato Crop Management: Insights from the Onion Impact Cluster Project

Collaborative Efforts to Elevate Potato Farming Practices in Senegal

Kayar, Senegal – Today marked the inauguration of the Onion Impact Cluster Project, a collaborative initiative aimed at bolstering potato farming practices in Senegal. Spearheaded by Delphy International in partnership with renowned Dutch entities such as HZPC, Enza Zaden, and Hansa Agrostore, alongside funding from the Dutch Government, the project sets out to revolutionize potato crop management in the region.

Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Senegal, the project unfolds over a span of three years, during which 300 farmers will undergo comprehensive training in modern farming techniques. These encompass a spectrum of aspects ranging from crop management and irrigation to crop rotations, as well as sales and marketing strategies tailored to optimize potato yields.

The core objective of the project is to equip farmers with the requisite knowledge and skills to enhance the overall efficiency and sustainability of potato cultivation. By fostering a culture of innovation and best practices, the initiative endeavors to catalyze a paradigm shift in agricultural practices, thereby fostering economic empowerment and food security within the region.
